Governments say we must submit passports and IDs to “protect children” and make the internet safer. But what happens to your data after you hand it over? In this video, I break down a major breach tied to a driver compliance platform – where an unsecured Amazon S3 bucket exposed highly sensitive documents for 10,000+ Texas truckers, including 18,000 Social Security card photos, 23,000 driver’s license images, drug tests, insurance cards, background check forms, and more. The platform (AJT Compliance) reportedly left testing storage with public read/list permissions—showing how third-party age verification and compliance vendors can become massive leak points. We also look at the UK’s push toward digital IDs and ask: if verification is outsourced to private platforms across the web (think major apps and sites), how long until those databases leak too?
